Fire crews extinguish a two-alarm fire on East Elm Street

A two-alarm fire damages an apartment in Bath Township this morning.

Bath fire officials got the call around 4 a.m. after a person walking along Lost Creek Reservoir noticed a fire in an apartment at 2267 East Elm Street. The fire was contained in the middle apartment and there was some smoke and fire damage in the attic that the apartment shared with two other units. No one was at home at the time of the fire.

Bath got help from the Perry and Lima Fire Departments and was able to knock the fire down quickly. The cause remains under investigation but appears to be electrical. Fire officials estimate the damage to be around $30,000.
