Cattle took over the Allen County Fairgrounds at the "Heart of it All" event Sunday morning.
The session is the first of 15 for the BEST Points season of the Ohio Cattle Association and is the start of projects for several members of 4-H. Overall there were 658 entries in the shows and the winners received cash prizes.
Many of the participants are younger, and showing cattle can help them learn responsibility and work ethic: "All of those things combined are setting the precedent for the next generation of leaders, whether they choose to go on to an agricultural field, or have a completely different career path, they'll always have those agricultural roots, which we're so proud of and makes them so hirable," said Ohio Cattleman's Association Director of Member Services and Youth Program Coordinator Stephanie Sindel.
The next session is December 10th and 11th at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus.
