Lima Junior Service Guild distributing books

The Lima Junior Service League distributed some books to students at South Science Technology Magnet on Tuesday.

Every child in kindergarten to second grade received two books. There were different types of books for different reading levels. The kids could pick any two books they wanted, but they were told that they have to read them. These books were purchased through a fundraiser put on by the Junior Service League. More than 2200 books will be given to 1100 students, just this week. The Lima Junior Service League hopes to get kids to love books and reading.

Kate Shulaw, President of the Junior Service Guild, says, "Hopefully, it will foster a love for reading and really get them going in that process. It's the best thing to see them say "we get to keep them forever." We just love that part of it. We hope that it gets them reading and really working their minds so that they can be successful in life all the way through."

Other schools that will receive book distributions this week include Independence, Freedom, Perry, Unity, Liberty, and Heritage Elementary Schools.
