LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Kiwanis Club helped high school girls look their best for one of the most memorable nights of the school year.
For over a decade, Kiwanis' Diva's Den has provided prom dresses to students free of charge, but for the first time ever, this year they gave out homecoming dresses too. Dresses are donated by members of the community and dry cleaned by Duffy's Cleaners. There were several hundred to pick from, and students could take two each. The program is open to all area high school girls, and no proof of income is required. The club just wants to make sure that nobody has to miss out on a high school dance.

"Homecoming, prom—these are just really big rites of passage for young people, and it's really expensive. So to have the ability to come and get a free dress and still look beautiful and still have a good time, we just love doing it for the community," said Ann Mering, a co-chair of Diva's Den.
"The moms have been grateful, so have the daughters. I mean, they really enjoy the environment we bring because all the ladies who help out are so kind and they are always so productive, and anything the girls need we can help out with," added Isabella Salem, a volunteer from Shawnee High School who also received a free dress.
Kiwanis will hold another Diva's Den in the spring, closer to prom season.
