The City of Lima's Summer Playground program is set to begin next Monday.
The playground leaders and staff were introduced Wednesday at Lima Mayor David Berger's weekly press conference. These students will be one on one with the youngsters that will be attending the summer program more as mentors than supervisors. Many of the leaders participated in the program as children and say it was instrumental in their childhood.
"And I kind of figured out who I was through the parks, as you can tell I'm very outgoing, I'm very goofy, and I'm easy to get along with, and I found that through the parks," said Talor Washington-James, playground leader 1
This is James' second year as a leader and she is excited about mentoring kids that remind her of herself at that age.
