Minority business owners succeeding in downtown Lima

Downtown Lima is becoming a desired location for up and coming businesses and several minority business owners are making their mark.

When Jesse Lowe II needed to find a new home for his salon, he was immediately interested in 768 North Main Street, but the location was too big for his needs so he decided to rent out the extra space to other business owners looking to expand.

Now, six businesses are located in the one building.  Kristie Steward and her daughter Kaitlyn Shurelds are expanding their bow making business with the Kute as a Button storefront.  Employees of 4 Sistas consignment store believe being in such close proximity to other entrepreneurs is lifting their business.  Jayme Phillips of Uniquely Gifted balloon décor says the whole city has been supportive of the new business.

JoJo Clark sells personal care products through Soul Purpose.  She says the businesses are providing products and services that were previously difficult to find.

The building is also home to L. White Consulting.

Lowe, who owns Black Lace, hopes the actions of these new small business owners will encourage others to pursue their dreams in the heart of the city.
