Also at Task Force Lima's meeting was a special guest from Governor Mike DeWine's office.
Newly appointed, senior adviser for aerospace and defense, Col. Joseph Zeis was invited back to Lima. He detailed to the task force his new duties from Governor DeWine and said he's here to assist JSMC in any way he can. Zeis said the goal is to merge the components of aerospace and defense that Ohio has to offer, to create a strategy for DeWine to attract more business for aerospace and defense. Making Ohio a top state for those departments. Ohio already houses locations for General Dynamics, Boeing and GE Aviation.
"If a prime is attracted to Ohio, they can collapse right in on the supplier base that exists here to support the existing aerospace and defense industry already," said Zeis. "So taking credit for, understanding and increasing the profile of Ohio's defense and aerospace industry naturally starts to attract others. That's really part of the goal."
Zeis said there are also plans to work with Jobs Ohio to attract aerospace and defense supplier jobs to Ohio.
