Artspace/Lima has a special exhibit of Adams' work hanging in the lobby.

David Adams' artwork brought "Beanie" to life and also directed people around town with a map highlighting local hotspots. He shared his love of cartooning with the community, and Artspace/Lima wants to make sure that continues. Adams passed away last week, and there will now be a scholarship fund to allow kids to attend a summer art camp.

"He worked with many kids. He liked animation. In fact, many people saw him around town drawing their faces and spaces. So we want to honor that so that kids than can learn from him as well as create their own. We have a camp in the summer, an animation camp that's got anime, manga, comic book, graphic novels, and we bring in Bryan Moss. What we're going to do is set it up so that anybody that wants to be a part of that can be in there. So that's what the funds are going to go for is the camp that helps kids with their cartooning and their animation drawings," explained Sally Windle, executive director of ArtSpace/Lima.

Artspace also has a special exhibit of Adams' work hanging in the lobby. It includes his cartooning but also has examples of his printmaking. Adams was also essential in the formation of the Lima Allen County Neighborhoods in Partnership, known as LACNIP. He created the public officials dialogue luncheon, which he boasted was "altercation-free". He was Your Hometown Station's movie reviewer and was a former Lima City Councilman. David Adams loved Lima. He was 85 years old.
