Ohio State Lima Circle K and Kiwanis club plant seeds for future generations

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Two clubs teamed up to plant buckeye seeds for first graders.

The members of the Ohio State Lima Circle K group joined in with the Kiwanis club of Lima to plant over 1600 buckeye seeds. These seeds will then grow into young buckeye trees in 2028 for every first grader in Allen County to receive. By planting these annual seeds, it not only connects these clubs together, but brings future generations joy.

"There's not a lot of initiative to really bring that to each kid. So here, we are able to give a nice gift to each kid, and it really just shows them what we can do as a community," says Aubrey Gerten, past president of the Ohio State Lima Circle K.

They say club members gain pride, by knowing the good that's done by planting these trees in this community.
