COLUMBUS, Ohio (WLIO) — The governors of Ohio and Michigan are putting their chips on the table in a friendly wager over this year’s Ohio State–Michigan game.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer have agreed to a bet involving potato chips. Whichever team loses, that state’s governor will present the other with an assortment of locally made potato chips. DeWine is offering chips from Zanesville, Cincinnati, Mansfield and Ohio’s Mikesell’s.
Lieutenant governors are joining in as well. Ohio Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel has placed a wager with Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchris, and the loser must wear a sweater vest featuring the opposing team’s logo. Tressel, a former Ohio State head coach, was known for wearing an Ohio State sweater vest on the sidelines.
