One Building Still Standing After Damage from Downtown Findlay Fire in January

Only one building remains standing at the scene of a fire that damaged parts of Downtown Findlay in January.

The Gibbs Buildings at 217 through 227 North Main Street were demolished this week due to damage from a fire that officials say started in Apartment 5.

The flames spread to American Loan Mortgage Corporation next door. The owner moved his business to an office on Tiffin Avenue. It is unsure whether the original building will be torn down.

Eight apartments on the second floor were destroyed but there were no injuries. Star Pawn Shop, located downstairs, suffered smoke and water damage and officially closed their business.

A Battalion Chief for the Findlay Fire Department says the cause of the fire is officially undetermined.
