If you love camping, you don’t have to go far for a great site.
The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park Districts campground opened Friday. It’s located at the Ottawa Metro Park on Ada Road near the Farm Park. It boasts 30 family campsites with 3 handicap accessible. They are on a first come first serve basis with self-registration. As the season gets underway there are plenty of family activities to take advantage of at the campground.
Tim Wurst, Park Supervisor, says, “So, there’s plenty to do here out here at Ottawa Metro Park. We have miles and miles of walking and biking trails. Fishing at the lake, there’s a playground in the park for the kids. Also, sand volleyball, there’s an 18-hole disc golf course. So, there’s plenty to do here for the kids and everyone.”
It is $30 per night and only $25 per night for seniors 60 years of age and older. You can find out more by visiting their website at jampd.com.
