Perry Elementary students are feeling groovy this week.
From May 9th to May 13th, Perry Elementary celebrates its annual Right to Read Week, and this years theme from Scholastics is "Feeling Groovy." One of the highlights of right to read week, and the school year is family fun night. The idea is for students and families to come out and have fun with an emphasis on reading.
"We have tons of families that were here when the doors opened right at 5 o' clock, flood the building, we are waiting on a speaker tonight at 5:30, a special event that we have done, this is one of the only years that we had a speaker for family fun night so that's something that is bringing a lot more families out this year," said Lisa Henline.
There are various stations at the event including a book fair, games and crafts, snow cones, a basket raffle and a photo booth.
