PUTNAM CO., OH (WLIO) – Runners, get ready.
The Putnam County Running Series is making a comeback, and organizers are inviting everyone to join the fun.
The series includes two 5K races and one 4-mile run held during three different festivals in Putnam County, beginning in August and wrapping up in October.
Thanks to a partnership with Mercy Health, runners who complete all three races will receive a quarter zip-up as a reward.
Organizers say the running series is returning after taking a few years off to help promote health and community spirit throughout the county.
“We really wanted to revive it, because we saw a great turnout in all three races that were historically part of the running series. So now, with hopes of reviving it, we're going to bring out more people to the community, kind of reinitiate some heart healthy lifestyle, and just make sure people are coming out to have a good time. Each of these festivals are a great fundraiser for their local community, whether it be through church, the community, the park, etc. So it's really good to come out and support even if you're just watching or racing as well," said Rachel Kahle, co-chair of the Glandorf Park Fest Turtle Trot.
Organizers say the running series is returning after taking a few years off to help promote health and community spirit throughout the county.
The series kicks off with the Glandorf Park Fest Turtle Trot on Aug. 30th, followed by the Pioneer Days 4 Miler on Sept. 5th, and concludes with the SPPS Foundation 5K on Oct. 18th.
Registration for each individual race is $25, or participants can register for all three for $69.
