Rising diesel prices strain farmers without boosting their income

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Fuel costs are at an all-time high right now, but many do not see how this affects farmers.

Diesel prices have been on the rise in recent weeks, making it more costly to run simple errands. While consumers are paying more, farmers say they aren't seeing the benefits. Farmers say they are not seeing any extra money from it. Many say it's costing them more to do their jobs, since they rely on diesel for their equipment. So, while consumers are paying more for fuel and some goods, so are the farmers, as well as gaining no extra revenue for their work.

"Farmers don't get paid for what their cost of production is. That's really what it boils down to. And, unfortunately, the consumer sees an increase in their cost, but the farmer doesn't see an increase in their revenue," says Alan Davis, a local farmer.

Although the prices are rising, farmers are still making sure to give it their all for consumers.
