Silver Birch Foundation hosts 6th annual Charity Dinner and Auction to support services for seniors

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Community members supported the Area Agency on Aging 3 and went home with some great prizes. 

The Silver Birch Foundation, which fundraises for the agency, held its 6th annual Dinner and Auction on Thursday night. There was both a live and silent auction, and people could even bid from home online. Over 75 items and baskets were up for grabs, including autographed music, sports memorabilia, and high-end home goods. 

Fundraisers like this make it possible for the agency to continue their education and outreach efforts for seniors, who often have nowhere else to turn. 

"We've helped build ramps due to them being maybe in a wheelchair and they can't get out of the house. We had someone that we helped get an oxygen tank. We've helped people move. Maybe they're in a 2nd-story home with lots of steps that really need to be in a 1st-story home due to safety reasons," said Ann Carrol, the fund development coordinator for the Silver Birch Foundation and AAA3.

The Area Agency on Aging is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
