LIMA, OH (WLIO) - On the final day of the Allen County Fair, another auction raised money for local youth.
The Allen County Fair is almost wrapped up, and that means that the kids in the Junior Fair program will be rewarded at the auction for all their hard work. This year at the Allen County Fair is especially fun for Oksana Gossard, who won Grand Champion Market Hog. But what was really cool was the money that Gossard won during the auction.
The Allen County 4-H Council is asking for your support. In its 10th year, their silent auction is being held in the youth exhibit building on the north side of the fairgrounds. You will find a wide variety of gift baskets that have been donated by the clubs throughout the county. Proceeds from the sale will go toward 4-H programming.
Some local 4-H students benefit from the Ohio State Fair Sale of Champions. Braxton Method from Auglaize County got $7,000 for his reserve grand champion market goat. Ava Shroyer from Logan County got $13,000 for her grand champion market lamb. Lilly Elsass from Auglaize County and Aubree Topp from Shelby County were recognized for their dairy championship cows, and the milk from their cows and the five other dairy champions produced a Swiss cheese that sold for $32,500.
