Nearly 200 support Lima Symphony Orchestra's Wine Tasting and Auction

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Nearly 200 people came out to support the Lima Symphony Orchestra.

Thursday night was the 17th annual Wine Tasting and Auction, the Symphony's biggest fundraising event of the year. Items up for bids included high-end wines, a signed jersey from the Cleveland Browns' Nick Chubb, and tickets to the Ohio State-Michigan game.

The event brings in about ten percent of the Symphony's annual budget, helping them continue community programs like bringing their musicians to local schools. This year, they added a paddle raise to get donations for their healing through music programs.

"It's an opportunity for us to really talk about the program we did in the prison this summer and the programs that we do at Mercy Health, and it's a great opportunity for us to really just get that message out. And we're hoping to use all of those funds tonight for that purpose alone and really expand the program," explained Elizabeth Brown-Ellis, the executive director of the Lima Symphony Orchestra.

The symphony's season returns to the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center at 7 p.m. on Oct. 19th with the concert "Electric Love," featuring a guest electric violinist.
