LIMA, OH (WLIO) - On the final day of the Allen County Fair, another auction raised money for local youth.

Several of the buyers come back every year, not just because they appreciate the carvings but because the proceeds go towards a scholarship fund.
The 21 works of art created by the Bear Hollow Woodcarvers all throughout the fair went up for auction Saturday afternoon. Many of them sold for over $1,000. The highest bid item was an American flag that went for $1,750. Several of the buyers come back every year, not just because they appreciate the carvings but because the proceeds go towards a scholarship fund to help students who are studying agriculture-related fields in college.

"Everybody in the area wants to help out the kids. So it's just nice to be a part of that, to be able to come out and carve and make something like that happen for the community."
"The auction is always a good time. I've never been to an auction and left upset, unless I lost. But you know, auctions are always a good time, and it is a really good way to help out the local kids here in Allen County. Everybody in the area wants to help out the kids. So it's just nice to be a part of that, to be able to come out and carve and make something like that happen for the community," said Jason Stoner, who people could watch create the carvings each day of the fair.
The flower baskets hanging on poles in front of the livestock barns and the ribbon-winning wines were also up for auction.
