Stanford University business students visit Lima to learn about its workforce

A group of Stanford University business students connected with local officials to learn more about the Midwest and its workforce.

The West Coast students usually take informational gathering trip to different parts of the world, but this time they decided to get a perspective from the people that live in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. Wednesday, they toured Proctor and Gamble and met with members of Greater Lima Region group to talk about the economy and workforce development to continue to adapt to a changing business climate.

“The Midwest is just this area that has had disruption and a lot of job loss, right. We've already been affected by it here. How can we take how the Midwest has responded over the past 20 to 30 years? What's worked well and what's not worked well and apply that to what a lot of people think is coming in the future with a lot of the new automations? How can we learn the lesson of the Midwest and take the good things and move them to other communities?” asked David Ma, Stanford Business School Trip Leader.

After Lima, the students will be visiting Detroit, South Bend, and Chicago.
