LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It's a well-oiled machine that has been feeding thousands of people on one special day in October for a quarter of a century.
It's the 25th barbeque chicken dinner for the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities. It has grown over the years with 3,000 dinners being cooked this year. Organizers say that it's local businesses that have been the key to their success. Today they were delivering 1,800 meals to 113 businesses with hundreds of more dinners going out in the drive-through.
"We just could not be more thankful for the support of the community and especially these businesses. Many employers are buying dinner for all of their staff. We are just so thankful for their support. We could not have done this for 25 years without them," said Anne Dunbar, intake support specialist.
Funds raised from the dinner go to the special needs fund that purchases items for clients that insurance doesn't cover and to the Marimor Legacy Foundation. The Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities is located at 2500 Ada Rd, Lima, OH 45801.
