Update on power outage in American Township/Elida

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — More than 3,000 customers in the area could see power restored by midafternoon Saturday following storm damage that downed multiple utility poles.

According to an AEP Ohio spokesman, restoration for those impacted could occur around 3 p.m. Saturday. The delay comes after nine power poles were taken down during Thursday night’s storm.

Crews faced challenges due to heavy rainfall, which made it difficult to set replacement poles. Additional equipment was brought in to assist with placing the new poles, a process that was completed late Friday evening.

Early Saturday morning, crews began installing new power lines on the newly set poles. The AEP Ohio spokesman says they are hoping power will be restored by 3 p.m. Saturday.
