LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Fire Department responded to a house fire Wednesday morning.
The call came in around 9 a.m. for a fire in the 600 block of North Elizabeth Street. No power had been at the house for a year and the property has been empty for some time. The Lima Fire Department also says that people have been squatting inside the home and that this is not the first fire that this property has seen.
"Possibly nine people were living inside of that structure. So, yes we made entry and we did a search and a secondary search of the entire structure found nobody. Now we're looking to get that demolished. This is actually the third time we've been on that same house fire so it's a nuisance to the neighborhood and we're looking to have it demolished," said Chief Andy Heffner, Lima Fire Department.
Firefighters were on scene for about two hours and the fire remains under investigation.
