The Allen County Department of Job and Family Services is working to crack down on welfare fraud in the county. The department has sent several cases to the Allen County Prosecutor's Office for prosecution. On Tuesday, Kathyrn Kimbrough waived her right to a trial by making a plea to theft of receiving temporary assistance for needy families benefits that she was not entitled to for eight years. Kimbrough says it was a misunderstanding of filling out forms when she applied for assistance. Job and Family Services says she didn't report that her son, the father of the grandchildren she was getting support for, was living with them. They say that is fraud, and they had to take action.

ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Allen County Job and Family Services wants to warn SNAP cardholders about several skimming incidents that have been reported. Officials say they have had dozens of reports of unauthorized use of clients' cards. Their statements show multiple purchases from the New York area that emptied their account. Allen County Job and Family Services says that this seems to be happening across the nation due to the EBT cards being skimmed during legitimate purchases. They say the State of Ohio is investigating and there is a way to protect your account.

Senior citizens in Allen County are getting a heads-up about local resources available to help them out. The second annual "Senior Resource Fair," organized by Allen County Job and Family Services, was held Wednesday. The fair offers senior citizens a chance to meet with various local organizations that can help them with everything from assisted living and hospice care to physical and mental health services. A variety of booths were set up with handouts and helpful information on what services the organizations offer and how they can make life easier for seniors.

Fraud investigators from Job and Family Services found out that she falsely reported that the father of her children had moved out of the house and she was reporting the family income lower than it actually was to receive the benefits. This investigation was part of the agency’s Early Detection Program to stop and prevent these types of fraud.
