July 29, 2024, Press Release from the Alzheimer’s Association: TOLEDO, OH – July 28, 2024 – As highly accurate blood tests for Alzheimer’s disease move closer to approved use in physician’s offices, new research suggests that they may revolutionize the accuracy of diagnosis and provide a cleaner, quicker path to diagnosis and treatment, according to data reported at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference® (AAIC®) 2024 in Philadelphia.

Guest speakers from the Northwest Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and Kessler Estates Senior Living in Lima informed the Kiwanis members about Alzheimer's and dementia. Those in attendance were educated on the stages, risk factors, and FDA-approved treatments that can help aid those who may suffer from the disease.

If you have a vehicle you are proud of, Springview Manor would like you to be a part of their car show next week. It is only a 5-dollar registration fee with all proceeds to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Several trophies will be awarded including the resident's choice award.

A national health care organization is currently in the midst of a preventative Alzheimer's trial. "Care Access" works to bring these trials that are usually done in major city hospitals to smaller communities to include people who may not be able to participate otherwise. As the word has gotten out about the Alzheimer's trial they have received many inquiries about its status.

Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia with no known cure, but research continues to find treatments to slow the progression of the disease. Lima Rotarians heard about a local clinical study being done to help detect signs of Alzheimer's long before any symptoms are visible. Care Access of Lima is looking for individuals to take part in this study that includes a blood test to detect protein levels that could be a sign of Alzheimer's.
