St. Marys Tailgate for Cancer has raised over $1.5 million since they started, and they are not stopping until cancer is beat. This 14th year for the event, which started with a few individuals who wanted to make a difference and to help friends and loved ones who have been affected with cancer and has grown to help many in the community battling the disease. During the event there are raffles, live and silent auctions and other activities to raise money for them to give away. After this year’s event, Tailgate for Cancer will be able to cross over the $1 million mark in total donations to the James Cancer Center at the Ohio State University.

Matching grant programs are available for neighborhood associations to implement enhancement projects. The project must kick off on October 17th and be completed by April 17th of 2023. The association could get up to $2,500. There will be a free grant workshop on Wednesday, September 21st to assist anyone interested in applying for the matching grant dollars. It will start at 5:30 p.m. in city council chambers.
There are few days left for neighborhood associations and 501(c)(3) organizations to submit applications for the City of Lima Department of Housing and Neighborhoods for their Impact Grant Program. Up to ten $500,000 grants are available and Activate Allen County is awarding additional grant dollars to a few of the approved projects.
