The VFW Post 9142 was making stops at different nursing homes to drop off presents, one of the stops being the Meadows of Ottawa Senior Living Center. Each veteran received a hat and a lap blanket to use. The veterans appreciated that the VFW stopped by to honor their service and think about them around the holidays.

Box after box after box coming out of Forest Park United Methodist Church as the 709 collected get ready for their trip down the interstate. The church has been collecting the blankets since the beginning of September and with the generosity of others and the support of a few local businesses, hundreds of vets will feel the warmth of the Lima community.

Members of the Forest Park United Methodist Church, here in Lima, are collecting blankets for veterans. Hundreds of veterans are in nursing homes and the Dayton VA Hospital has several on their campus. Blankets are something these vets can use to stay warm not only in their rooms but also when they are transported back and forth for medical appointments. A small token like a blanket can mean the world to the veteran.
