“Had to do a lot of research. I don't know very much about concrete or any of that kind of stuff, so I did some research. I figured out the basis I need to do for pouring concrete, installing these benches,” Rodden said.

The Johnny Appleseed Metro Parks District is getting a much-needed upgrade thanks to a local Eagle Scout's service project. Michael Sherrick of Troop 84 built a one-hundred-foot-long boardwalk on the nature trail behind the McElroy Environmental Education Center. Park officials, fellow scouts, and friends and family of Michael's were present for the ribbon cutting to unveil his project. The land was previously prone to flooding, which made it hard for hikers to cross without getting muddy or wet. According to Sherrick, it took him about 7 months to plan and finish the project.
An Eagle Scout project will give the students at Heritage Elementary a new place to learn and create when they come back to school on Wednesday. Noah Sims is a Boy Scout from Troop 106 and took on the project to revamp the courtyard at Heritage after talking with his mom, who teaches there. Sims colorfully painted teepee and benches and added storage cabinets, shaped like houses that hold books, art supplies, and musical instruments. Sims wanted to create an outdoor learning environment for the students that will help them excel in music, art, and reading.

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, OH (WLIO) - An aspiring Eagle Scout from BSA Troop 777 chose something a little more patriotic for his community service project.
The Kiwanis Club of Lima is continuing to support local organizations through donations. On Tuesday afternoon, the Kiwanis presented checks to four more organizations that are serving area youth every day.
Local scouts were able to place flags on graves on Saturday ahead of Memorial Day. The local veterans council organized the event with local scout leaders.
A local boy scout troop held a pulled pork barbecue dinner drive-thru on Friday. The goal of the event was to raise funding for the scout's yearly activities. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the group to think of other ways to raise funds. Eventually, the idea of a drive-thru barbecue dinner was agreed upon.
