Lima, OH (WLIO) - Two people are in the hospital after a shooting in Lima late Wednesday afternoon. 

As deputies approached Darr, shots rang out with one striking a house just 10 feet from the deputies and Darr. Multiple law enforcement officers responded, and casings were found on Prospect Avenue and fragmented pieces of a bullet from the back of the house, but no shooter was found. According to the police department, the incident happened at the gas station at the corner of Willipie and Pearl streets after 6 p.m. A 21-year-old male from Lima had a gun go off, and the bullet went through his hand and through the arm of a 23-year-old female also from Lima. Both were taken to Mercy Health – St. Rita's for treatment. The case is still under investigation.

Law enforcement has provided an update to a story we first brought you over the past weekend.

The shooting occurred just before midnight Thursday when two female victims were shot in a car. Both victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two bullets were recovered by detectives at the scene. This is one of the various shootings that have occurred in the lima area. The department states that they are investigating the rise in shootings, and believe there might be a gang connection to them.
