The Lima Police Department is currently investigating a shooting at the intersection of Cole and Spring Street.
The shooting occurred just before midnight on Thursday when two female victims were shot in a car. Both victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two bullets were recovered by detectives at the scene. This is one of the various shootings that have occurred in the Lima area. The department states that they are investigating the rise in shootings, and believe there might even be a gang connection to them.
"A majority of the shootings that we've had occur over the last week to two weeks, we're looking at strong gang overtones on these shootings," said Steve Stechschulte, Detective at the Lima Police Department. "If we find out that there are gang affiliations or a gang motive behind it, then we will use the statutes that actually make a strong hit on people who have gang activity."
The Lima Police Department says that the public shouldn't worry, and that anyone with information is asked to contact the police department.
