The shooting occurred just before midnight Thursday when two female victims were shot in a car. Both victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two bullets were recovered by detectives at the scene. This is one of the various shootings that have occurred in the lima area. The department states that they are investigating the rise in shootings, and believe there might be a gang connection to them.

Ohio-based Christian Aid Ministries issued a statement saying that the 12 remaining hostages "are free!" The missionaries were kidnapped by gang members on October 16th. There are five children in the group of 16 U.S. citizens and one Canadian, including an 8-month-old. Senator Rob Portman who has been urging the state department to do more is happy with the news.

A Lima man facing criminal gang charges was back in court because of an issue with his attorney. Jamaree Allen was in Allen County Common Pleas Court today, attempting to get a new attorney. His attorney said he'd willingly part ways if that was his decision, but that's not what the judge decided. The judge has ordered the two to continue to work together and figure out a way to work out their differences. Allen pleaded not guilty to numerous gang and gun-related charges. He is suspected as one of the two men firing shots in the area of Cole St. and Edgewood Dr. back in June. His trial is scheduled for January 27, 2020.

The Lima man alleged to have been part of criminal gang activity decides to represent himself in court.

Eric Wilson Junior has filed to represent himself moving forward in his case. Wilson says he hasn't spoken to his court appointed attorney since his arraignment and feels like he isn't being properly represented. The judge says his attorney his going through some medical issues, but Wilson decided he's better off on his own. He faces 8 charges such as participating in criminal gang activity and felonious assault. A number of charges carry firearm or criminal gang specifications. If convicted he could face a maximum of 87 years in prison. The co-defendant in the case is Jamaree Allen.

Two Lima men were arraigned Thursday for gang charges. 24-year-old Jamaree Allen and 25-year-old Eric Wilson Jr. both plead not guilty to charges relating to criminal gang activity and improper use of firearms. Each of them faces eight counts. The incident allegedly happened on June 21, 2019. Among the charges are participating in criminal gang activity, felonious assault and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises.
