The mild winter weather made it a perfect day for people around Auglaize County to get out and take a hike. The Heritage Trail Park District kicked off their Cabin Fever Hike Series at the Lockkeeper's House in New Bremen. This series has been going on for around 10 years now and is a very popular event for residents around the county. All four hikes in the series take place at different starting points along the Miami Erie Canal Trial. Participants could take advantage of a trail mix bar before they hit the canal trail. Plus, some people are taking advantage of the hiking series to get closer to some fitness goals.
It may have not been a stroll down lovers lane, but it sure got people’s heart pumping before Valentine’s Day. The Heritage Trails Park District held their Valentine's Cabin Fever Hike on Sunday afternoon in St. Marys. This was the second of their monthly winter hikes to help people get outside and check out the Miami Erie Canal towpath trail. While the colder weather may have kept some people indoors, the park district is happy to see others explore one of Auglaize County's best outdoor activities.

Heritage Trails Cabin Fever Hike Series continued in St Marys today.
People bundled up and headed out, some with their four legged friends, to conquer a section of the Miami Erie Canal. The walk started at the utilities building in St Marys and followed the path next to the canal. In total, it was a 5K walk and no one seemed to be phased by the cold.
