October 11, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources: VAN BUREN, Ohio – Year-round reservations are now available at Van Buren State Park! The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) upgraded 61 campsites at the Van Buren State Park Campground to include full RV hook up and other amenities in and around the sites. The $3.9 million project was a direct result of visitor feedback after the public called for modernized amenities and infrastructure. One of the major enhancements was connecting the campground to the City of Findlay’s municipal water supply. The critical upgrade also resulted in the installation of 11 new fire hydrants along Township Road 218, significantly improving fire safety in the area. Construction at the campground started in October 2023 and wrapped up recently this September.

From the 42nd Annual Fall Harvest Festival and Campout at Lake Loramie State Park to the 47th Annual Ohio Heritage Days Festival at Malabar Farm State Park, there are a variety of events are perfect for families looking to enjoy the crisp autumn air, delicious food, and hands-on experiences. This coming weekend, Lake Loramie State Park, located at 11070 State Route 362 in Minster, will bring the community together with its 42nd Annual Fall Harvest Festival and Campout. From September 13-15, the festival will feature a wide array of family-friendly attractions, including a mum flower sale, craft exhibitors, food vendors, and an antique power show displaying vintage tractors and equipment. While the campground is fully booked, overflow camping will be available starting Tuesday, September 10, on a first-come, first-served basis.

One of the largest events at the Allen County Fairgrounds kicked off Friday for the Labor Day weekend! Max's Trader Days and Water Dog Races returned for another year of residents and shoppers to relax and shop. In addition to purchasing items at vendors, the weekend will have plenty of other fun including the high-energy water dog races, enjoying your favorite foods, karaoke, and camping. Organizers say that there are over 1,800 in attendance this year, a statistic that helps to unite the community and funnel hundreds of thousands of dollars into the local economy.
