ST. MARYS, Ohio (WLIO) - If you're looking to be on the lake for Memorial Day weekend, Grand Lake St. Marys State Park is sure to have something for the whole family.
The Grand Lake St. Marys State Park is gearing up for the holiday weekend as they expect a full campground. Travelers have already begun showing up this week and more will be arriving by the Friday. With grills cooking food, a few fishing competitions, the pool being opened and much more, state park manager Dave Faler says even with the cooler expected weather, it'll be a great kickoff to the summer.
"Usually pretty nice weather, this year is going to be pretty chilly, but we do have a full camp this weekend," said Faler. "The pool will be open. We will still have plenty of different things the camp hosts will be doing for the campers. I know we have at least three different tournaments, two bass tournaments and a crappie tournament. This weekend, still going to be a busy weekend, still a big kickoff for summer. A lot of kids are out of school and just a good time for all."
Faler also said that the Governors Cup Regatta will make its return this year after popular demand. That will take place the weekend of June 21st through June 22nd at Grand Lake St. Marys.
