President Donald Trump has pardoned over 1,500 people charged as part of the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. So, what does it mean for the local people who were charged? According to Federal Court Records, the case against Shawndale and Donald Chilcoat from Celina has been dismissed. They were facing numerous charges following the investigation. According to the complaint, the Chilcoats were seen in pictures and video from inside the Capitol Building and the chamber that lawmakers were voting to confirm the presidential election as rioters entered the Capitol.

The Department of Justice says 28-year-old Jonathan J. Copeland was arrested today in Shawnee Township. He was expected to make his initial appearance before the court in the Northern District of Ohio today. He faces accusations of assaulting, resisting or impeding law enforcement officers with a dangerous weapon, and interfering with a law enforcement officer during a civil disorder. Both are felony charges.

Don and Shawndale Chilcoat are in the Lucas County Jail on the federal charges of Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds; Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds; Entering and Remaining in the Gallery of Congress; Disorderly Conduct on Capital Grounds; Parade, Demonstrate, or Picket in any of the Capitol Buildings; and Obstruction or Impeding any Official Proceeding.

President Trump was acquitted on the charge he incited the insurrection that day, but different senate committees will be looking at 22 agencies' responses that day. One of them is Senator Rob Portman’s Homeland Security committee. The chairs and ranking members of each of the six committees sent a letter to the agencies to find out what they knew before the attack and their timeline for response.
