LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Apollo Career Center welcomed the community Thursday evening for its annual Apollopalooza.
Allen County Museum board members expressed their gratitude to students from Apollo’s Construction Equipment Technology class for their hard work on the property, which required more repairs than museum volunteers could handle.
The student population at Apollo drastically rose on Friday as 1,200 8th and 9th graders came out to see what the school has to offer. They come from the 11 feeder schools of the career center and are seeing if the programming is the right fit for them. Some of the classes they got to see included the new criminal justice program where Lima Police officers shared about their careers. They also got to stop by HVAC and electrical systems technology, along with several other programs. Administrators say the visit is a great way for the students to better understand the career center's purpose.
Apollo Career Center has announced that they are partnering with America Makes to be a part of their Secondary Education Additive Manufacturing Training Network. The school recently received a grant from the organization for six 3D printers, and will be incorporating it into their CNC robotics program.
