Reflecting on 81 years since Japanese pilots bombed the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Senior Citizens Services held a special event to honor all veterans past and present.
The organization was approached to see if they could help restore a POW and MIA sign on Conant Road between State Routes 81 and 117. After examining the sign, they decided to replace the whole thing and put up a flagpole beside it. The Chained Eagles were involved when the original sign was put up around 30 years ago, and they are glad they can continue the tradition to keep the messages alive for now and in the future.
Two local organizations are teaming up asking the community to help support Ohio veterans. The Senior Citizens Services Center and the Chained Eagles are collecting donations of personal hygiene items, new clothes, snacks, and other items. The items collected will be taken to the Dayton VA hospital for their annual veterans picnic on Sunday, August 4th. Many times donated items like these help brighten a veteran's day.
It was an awe inspiring sight, as over one hundred motorcyclists escorted the Chained Eagles Traveling Wall to be part of the St. Marys Summerfest.
They have served and protected our country and a local organization now wants to give back to them and is asking for the support of the community.
