For the last eight years, local kindergarten through eighth grade students have been able to experience science in a fun way at the Ohio State University Lima Campus during the STEAM on the Quad event. STEAM on the Quad is a partnership with Charles River Laboratories in Spencerville and Ohio State Lima.
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math, and students got to take part in a lot of hands-on activities to learn more about each one.
Since the pandemic started, Charles River Laboratories has decided to donate more money towards local organizations and schools "STEM" or Science Technology Engineering and Math programs. The Spencerville location decided to divide up $25,000 they got from the company and give it to the Spencerville School District and the Lima South Science and Technology Magnet School.
