It may be hot outside, but the Christmas spirit was alive and well Thursday in downtown Lima. The Meeting Place on Market hosted its annual “Christmas in July” event, featuring festive music, holiday-themed beverages and sweet treats.

This year, organizers are adding a new twist by partnering with Saint Luke’s Church for a donation drive. They are collecting non-perishable food and hygiene items to benefit local shelters, emphasizing the importance of giving back all year long.
Money raised during the July campaign will go directly toward helping sustain the Salvation Army’s year-round operations in Lima.
Operation Half Pint is helping the Allen County Veteran Services Commission with their Christmas Cheer program.
For several years, the Meeting Place on Market, alongside partners like the Lima Public Library and YES FM, has put on "Christmas in July." The cafe had plenty of festive drinks and desserts for sale, and there were lots of free activities for kids like pottery decorating, making your own snow, and holiday coloring pages. Families also listened to live Christmas music. The event is just one way Lima's nonprofits and businesses work together to give back to the kids in the community.
Summer is in full swing, but it's not stopping Lima from getting in the holiday spirit. With Christmas under five months away, the Salvation Army is wrapping up its 'Christmas in July' fundraiser that assists those in need. The campaign started back on July 8th and runs through this Saturday at all Chief and Kewpee locations locally. The program relies on the generous help of volunteers and donations from those who lend a hand to those in need.

The 3rd annual Half Pint 5k race will be held next Saturday, July 27th, at the Pangle Pavilion in downtown Lima. This year's theme is Christmas in July, and a portion of the proceeds will help fund the Christmas Cheer event organized by the Allen County Veterans Service Commission.
