The Lima campus began its fall semester on Tuesday, and the university is holding events throughout the week to help students feel comfortable and excited about the semester.

Delphos St. John's School officials continue the fire clean-up and update parents on what school will look like next week. In a Facebook video update, Father Jeff Walker says that school will be in session on Monday, October 28, 2024, as the air and building have been deemed safe, but there will be changes to the school day. Elementary and junior high students will be physically back inside the classroom on Monday, while high school students will not return to the building and attend class via remote learning at home all next week.

Dozens of adults lined the hall as the students came in for their first day of school. The surprise and happiness could be seen on the children's faces as they entered the building to the fanfare. On hand were local officials, including Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith, safety services, community leaders, and parents.

History was coming to life for students at Lima's North Middle School as the school year comes to the end. Some 5th and 6th graders get the chance to experience what life would be like during the American Revolution, the Civil War, and the Western Expansion. Educators say that it can be difficult keeping the students attention in the last few days of classes. The kids went room to room for the "history era tour". The hands-on activities seem to keep their attention and help them retain the information.

May is National Tennis Month, and the organization is getting the word out about the various activities they have going on this summer. The Lima Area Tennis Association board has been working with the U.S. Tennis Association to host a lot more tournaments around the area this year. Plus, they are gearing up for another summer full of camps teaching tennis to kids, but they are also looking to expand their programming for adults.
