LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Area Tennis Association (LATA) is ready to share their love of tennis with people this summer.
May is National Tennis Month, and the organization is getting the word out about the various activities they have going on this summer. The Lima Area Tennis Association board has been working with the U.S. Tennis Association to host a lot more tournaments around the area this year. Plus, they are gearing up for another summer full of camps teaching tennis to kids, but they are also looking to expand their programming for adults.
"We have an Adults 101 class that was pretty successful last year, around 20-something adults. So it was really good, and that was our first year doing it," says Jacob Ramirez, Lima Area Tennis Association Board Member. "This year, we are going to try and beat that number and try and go beyond that. We actually have other things going on that we are going to be putting out at the end of this month. We are going to be having a Fitness Class 101 for adults for tennis. We are also going to be having match-play situations. So a lot of different things for people to try out and have fun with."
The Lima Area Tennis Association will be letting people try out the sport on Monday, May 6, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Collett Street tennis courts.
