Registration for the annual program begins Tuesday, May 20, with extended office hours at the Lima Parks Department. Parents can sign their children up at the department’s office in the City Garage on Collett Street from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 20 and 21.
The Lima Police Department captured a wanted criminal following a standoff. As of 10:30 PM Tuesday, we learned that the suspect who surrendered is 32-year old Demarcus Williams from Tennessee.
May is National Tennis Month, and the organization is getting the word out about the various activities they have going on this summer. The Lima Area Tennis Association board has been working with the U.S. Tennis Association to host a lot more tournaments around the area this year. Plus, they are gearing up for another summer full of camps teaching tennis to kids, but they are also looking to expand their programming for adults.
First responders were called to a report of a mini-van on its side in front of Safety City. Officials on the scene say the van was observed heading south on Collett running up and over the curb striking a tree and then tipping over on its side. The occupants were out of the vehicle when crews arrived on scene. They were being treated for what appears to be minor injuries.
According to Lima police, a shots fired incident occurred on Wayne and Collett Street, Wednesday night.
