Ohio EPA will hold a public information session and hearing on Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, to accept public comments about the proposed renewal of INEOS Nitriles USA LLC’s permits. If approved, the renewals would be valid for five years, allowing the continued operation of four Class 1 hazardous wastewater injection wells at the company’s facility in Lima.

The meeting is part of an ongoing study of the U.S. 30 corridor from the Indiana state line in Paulding County to the Lincoln Highway (County Road 418) interchange in Van Wert County. Eighteen at-grade intersections have been identified as part of the study. The feasibility study is expected to be completed near the end of 2022.

Residents of all ages coming to the City of Lima's public meeting on the new community aquatic center. People viewed renderings and maps of the two proposed locations which are the former Schoonover Pool site and the area between Lima Stadium Park and Lincoln Park. The capital has been secured and now they are asking for input on what can be included at the new aquatic center and people are responding.

Residents can ask questions and comment on the site selection process, the pool study, and the cost of the project. Back in fall 2020, the City of Lima determined that the Schoonover Pool would be too costly to repair and open for another season. So, they have been working on developing a plan to replace the pool with a new aquatic center. The cost is projected to be just under $9 million.

The changes are to ensure the meetings are run in a productive and efficient manner. The board provides time for public comments at each agenda and public meeting. If you want to address the board you must fill out and return a public comment request form prior to the start of the meeting. It can be found on the commissioner’s website along with all the rules for public comment. Those include a limit of 3-minutes and no visual aids during the meeting but can be given to the board as supplemental materials
