Six people were indicted for passing phony money in four Ohio counties, including Auglaize and Defiance. Attorney General David Yost announced their indictment by a Williams County grand jury this week. The six people are accused of making purchases with fake 20-dollar bills. Five of the six suspects are from Williams County; the sixth is from Toledo. Their ages range between 20 and 23 years old. They are facing multiple counts each for the offenses that happened between June 2022 and January 2023. The Wapakoneta Police Department, Auglaize County prosecutors, and the Grand Lake Task Force aided in the investigation.

The Allen County Sheriff's Office is looking into some counterfeit bills being passed in the village of Elida. The Detectives Bureau is investigating a report of counterfeit bills being used at the Dollar General store in Elida. No one has been charged as of yet, and because the investigation is ongoing, no details about the investigation can be released. The sheriff's office says they will release more information if charges are filed.
