Counterfeit money used at Putnam County Fair

It's not all fun and games at the fair as the Putnam County Sheriff is investigating counterfeit money being used on the premises.

Tuesday afternoon, a vendor at the fair tipped off the Putnam County Sheriff about three people trying to pass off fake fifty-dollar bills. Deputies confronted the individuals, and took them in for questioning after the vendor said the group threw the rest of the bills in the trash. No fake bills were found on them, so they were released and left the fair. However, after they left, one deputy did find a fake bill in a garbage can, which was taken in for evidence.

The situation remains under investigation.
