HARDIN COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) — A man is in custody after allegedly attempting to elude Hardin County deputies on Thursday.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Daniel Murphy is facing possible criminal and traffic charges following a chase that happened in the 18000 block of County Road 146. Deputies say Murphy was traveling at a high rate of speed in rural Hardin County when they attempted to stop him, but he fled and drove into a field.
Authorities say Murphy then stopped, exited the vehicle, and showed a deputy a handgun. Murphy later called 911, and dispatchers convinced him to surrender.
After Murphy was taken into custody, deputies reportedly found drug paraphernalia and a suspected controlled substance.
The incident remains under investigation, Murphy is currently in the Multi County Jail.
