Many families rely on free or reduced meals to feed their children during the school year and during the summer it can become difficult to provide those. That's where the Lima City Schools can still assist families. They provide a free summer lunch program to children from one to 18 years of age and they don't even have to attend Lima City Schools. There are eat-in sites and mobile sites with the Spartan Lunch Express. The program is subsidized by the United States Department of Agriculture and offers a variety of options to make sure students get a balanced meal. There is a new service for the family added at Heritage Elementary on Thursdays this year to promote healthy choices.
