“It’s a chance for the students to see what happens at a council meeting while they’re learning about government in class,” said Wapakoneta City Schools Superintendent Aaron Rex. “It’s good for them to see people doing community service. And hopefully one day, when these kids grow up, they’ll want to give back to their community as well. Cridersville is a great place to live, and these kids will hopefully come back and reside in this community in the future.”

“It’s a great opportunity to talk about streets, sidewalks, curbs,” Coleman said. “There’s been a lot of talk about trash, so we’ve been looking at that too—actually bringing along trash bags with us now to pick up litter during the walks. We’re really getting involved.”

The administration says they have had a great response to the three meetings so far, that they are adding a fourth meeting this Thursday night at West Middle school. Residents have been sharing their ideas where they would like to see a portion of the $26.3 million that Lima got from the federal government. Tuesday afternoon, residents said they would like to see more outdoor activity spaces, like pickleball and wheelchair ramps. But the more input the city gets, the better plan that they can create for the one-time funds.
