A man was pulled from a house fire Saturday afternoon in Darke County, but despite efforts of rescue crews, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The fire was reported at about 4:45 pm at 142 Jefferson Street in the Village of New Madison.

The Lima Fire Department released more information about the fatal fire Wednesday on W. High Street. They say it was 64-year-old James Shuler who lost his life during the fire. Fire officials ruled the fire's cause accidental. Fire crews were called to 1014 West High Street just before 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

A toddler died last night in a car fire in Allen County. The Allen County Sheriff's Office reports that 3-year-old Lillyanna Stemen was in the back seat of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle was driven by her father, 33-year-old Nichols Matthew Stemen of Elida, Ohio. The sheriff's office reports that around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, a 9-1-1 call came in of an irrational driver swerving and driving on a wheel rim.

On February 19th, 2020 at 11:59 p.m., the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a structure fire in the 100 block of Franklin St. Gilboa, Ohio.  Fire Dept., EMS, and law enforcement were requested to the scene upon arrival, observed the residence of 140 Franklin St. fully engulfed and deemed a complete loss.  One fatality was later confirmed at this location after Fire Fighters found remains of a body inside the residence.  Confirmation of the identification of the victim is still pending at this time.

An early morning fire in the 900 block of South Main Street has claimed the life of a man. With the city still dealing with the triple homicide three days ago, Lima has another unfortunate scene. And it may be because residents living there often rely on space heaters to stay warm. A family member has informed us Norise Cousey was the victim in the early morning fire. Crews were called about a 2:45 a.m. Thursday morning at the address of 900 to 908 South Main Street. The building houses several apartments on the upstairs floors.

The Ohio Fire Marshal's Office is still trying to determine the cause of the fire that killed a mother and daughter at the beginning of the year. According to a spokesperson for the fire marshal's office, the investigation of the fire that killed Heather and Destiney Money is still ongoing. The fire started at the Money's home on McPheron Road in the early morning hours of January 2, 2020. The home sustained heavy damage.
