The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated nearly 35,000 pounds of shelf-stable food to the West Ohio Food Bank, helping replenish supplies for area food pantries amid a decline in donations.
You might have noticed a couple hundred motorcycles rolling through rural Allen county, and it was all in benefit for the veterans food pantry.
Off the bat, the West Ohio Food Bank has received a $30,000 donation from Anthem Blue Cross. The money is immediately going into the way food will be distributed. And clients will be getting much more. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield has decided to assist the West Ohio Food Bank with this donation that will go towards a new cargo van. The old van is decades old and half the size of the new one. The idea here is the van will help fight food insecurity seniors are facing, across their 11 county area.
It's been two years in the making, but the students are now reaping the benefits from the garden that they built during the last school year.
The Lima Kiwanis Club donates produce to help Lima City students have food through the weekend. The Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation handed out grants to clubs in the state to buy items like potatoes and tangerines for food pantries. The Lima club decided they would use their grant to buy items for the pantries in Heritage, Unity, Freedom Elementary School, and North Middle School.
